Wine searches surge in June — and it’s no surprise. With Pride Month, graduations, birthdays, weddings, and summer gatherings in full swing, people are looking for wine gifts that are both memorable and meaningful.

That’s why we’re proud to collaborate with changemakers like Equality Vines, the first cause-based wine label supporting LGBTQ+ rights and gender equality. Founded by civil rights leader Jim Obergefell, the plaintiff in the landmark case that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, and our friend Matt Grove, their mission aligns with ours: making wine that brings people together and stands for something bigger.

– Fan of our Sunnydaze Sauvignon Blanc? That’s bottled sunshine — also known as their 19th Amendment Sauvignon Blanc, honoring women’s right to vote.
– Craving a bold red with some spice? Our Zin Master Zinfandel also appears in their collection as Stonewall Zinfandel, a tribute to the LGBTQ+ movement’s roots in the 1969 Stonewall uprising.

Wines That Bring People Together
We believe wine is meant to be shared — not just across tables, but across cultures, stories, and identities.
This belief runs deep for us. Our founder, Crystalyn, spent her early years in Oakland, where she was raised in a progressive household that embraced all walks of life. One of the most unforgettable people in her life was Brandy, her live-in nanny.
Brandy was a Black trans woman — bold, glamorous, and fiercely loving. She’d perform Patti LaBelle in stunning gowns, with jeweled nails and radiant confidence. Crystalyn vividly remembers sitting on the bathroom counter watching Brandy apply her makeup before shows — and getting a dab of lip gloss or eyeshadow herself.
Brandy wasn’t just a caregiver — she was family. Though misunderstood by her biological relatives, she was cherished in Crystalyn’s home until her passing from AIDS. Brandy’s spirit — full of joy, resilience, and unapologetic self-expression — lives on in the way Spicy Vines welcomes, celebrates, and connects through wine.
